Course Description This course is designed for students who have completed a 10 week Beginner Drawing course and wish to review what has been taught but with the added challenge of trying out different materials and subject matter. I will still continue to make this course structured so that you can be reassured that you are improving your skills. This course is really fun because we can produce large works and start experimenting to find out what we really like as drawers. Here are only some of the kind of activities we may do but much of the course content is negotiated or designed to the unique characteristics and needs of the class- Experimenting with a variety of drawing materials e.g. chalks, charcoal, colour pencil, biro, pen and ink, pastel pencils, conte, different types of papers to work on. -Exercises in improving visual perception and fine motor skills. Cloud drawing, negative drawing, blind drawing, continuous line drawing etc - Drawing from 3 dimensional objects and life eg still life, plaster casts, urban sketching. -Instruction on how to draw the head and features of the face from different angles. - Sketching expressively and considering mark making. - Looking at composition and how this can affect what you communicate in a picture. - Developing observational skills further and consider, line, tone and form and texture. - Lessons in 1, 2 and 3 perspective. - Landscape sketching and looking at depicting space through aerial perspective. - An introduction to using limited colour in our drawings -Using different papers and different drawing pencils. Booking Terms and Conditions CANCELLATIONS Classes can be cancelled up to 7 days prior to course commencement date incurring a 10% admin fee for cancellation. We have a strictly no cancellation policy within the week prior to the course irrespective of whether you have booked a 5 or 10 week course. In other words if a student wishes to cancel their booking of a 10 week course after the 7 day deadline a reimbursement cannot be issued for part II as this is a discounted package. If a deposit has been paid to reserve a place on the course this deposit is non-refundable. In the case of a lockdown or border closures affecting travel if you reside outside the bubble, the course fee will be fully reimbursed if cancelling anytime before the commencement of the course. If lockdown occurs in the middle of the course, an option of online classes will be given or an opportunity to defer classes to another term will also be offered. IMPORTANT CHANGES Catch up classes. In level 2 Drawing Studio, catch up classes are no longer available. They are only available for the Beginner Drawing classes as each lesson is essential in the development of learning in the early stages. Due to the size of the school, it is no longer feasible to book and arrange catch up classes for every participant in the Drawing Studios. If you miss a class due to illness or personal circumstances you will forfeit the class. You can arrange with a class mate that they take a video of my demonstrations or hold on to any worksheets for you. Social Distancing Considerations I have kept the bookings to the class small while we are going through these challenging times. Another consideration besides spacing is dealing with drink and food. I am happy to supply teabags, coffee and milk but I regret that during these times I wont be supplying snack food. Therefore, I recommend bringing your own snacks and your own cups and utensils. This will avoid any unnecessary sharing that could reduce the chances of anyone catching a cold or compromising anyone's health. I also politely request that if you are showing any signs of a cold, please let me know by phone and I will look for a time you can make up the class the following week at one of the other classes. |
